Andhra Pradesh Introduces Solar-Powered Desalination Units

Andhra Pradesh’s coastal water resources department has deployed 20 solar-powered desalination units in saline-prone villages near the Bay of Bengal. Each modular plant produces 10,000 liters of potable water per day using reverse osmosis and solar thermal desalination. Villagers now report improved health and reduced dependence on tanker water. The state plans to install 200 units by 2027, bringing launched clean water to coastal communities.
