Punjab Launches Next-Gen Drone Swarm for Wildfire Control

The Punjab Fire Services, in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, has tested a swarm of ten synchronized drones capable of aerial fire monitoring, mapping hot spots, and dropping eco-fire retardant granules in pre-identified control zones. Using AI to coordinate flight patterns, the drones achieved simultaneous coverage over a 2-km area. The pilot near Shivalik foothills is helping detect early-stage wildfires and prevent spread to villages. Emergency responders use real-time maps to deploy ground teams swiftly.
